Jackson Hogg Procurement division are recruiting on behalf of a manufacturing specialist in Northumberland for the appointment of 2 Buyers to join their purchasing team.
These are full time and permanent roles, based on site offering £30-40k DOE. Reporting into the Head of Supply Chain, you would work in a wider purchasing team of 8 people and be responsible for for procurement of materials, supplies, and services required for production and operations.
Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30 and Fridays 08:00-15:30.
The Role:
- Responsible for procurement of materials, supplies, and services required for production and operations.
- Ability to translate project requirements into actionable supply plans.
- Source suppliers, obtain quotes, and negotiate pricing and terms to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Process purchase orders, track deliveries, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of materials.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, prices, and inventory levels using ERP software system
- Lead vendor management activities, including evaluating supplier performance, resolving disputes, and fostering positive relationships.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points and collaborate with stakeholders to optimise stock levels and minimise shortages.
- Lead the development and implementation of procurement strategies to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Support cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and logistics, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with business objectives.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure procurement plans are updated inline with change management decisions.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and supplier developments to identify potential opportunities and risks.
The Person/Specification:
- Experienced in ERP/MRP purchasing practices Netsuite/Oracle system preferred
- Previous experience in manufacturing / complex project procurement.
- Technical procurement experience beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to adapt to changing business needs.
