Mechanical Engineer (Pipe Stress / Asset Integrity)
Full- Time & Permanent
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in pipe stress analysis or asset integrity assessments to join a growing engineering consultancy based in Stockton-on-Tees. This role will support Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments and broader mechanical engineering services, including finite element analysis (FEA), project management, and commercial responsibilities. The role covers sectors such as Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Oil & Gas, Food, Bulk Storage & Distribution, Renewables, and Energy.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform pipe stress analysis using Bentley AutoPIPE or similar software to support asset integrity projects.
Lead and conduct Fitness for Service (FFS) assessments of pressure systems following API 579 and BS 7910 (if applicable).
Carry out formula-based calculations and technical report writing to ensure compliance with ASME B31.3 and industry standards.
Check and review colleagues' work, including piping analyses and reports.
Prepare proposals and tenders, while managing projects commercially and contractually.
Conduct site-based surveys, liaising with clients to define support requirements.
Work closely with other departments to deliver integrated asset integrity services.
Maintain continuous professional development through training and industry events.

Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc/BEng or similar).
- 5+ years' experience in pipe stress analysis or integrity assessments of pressure systems.
- Proficiency in pipe stress analysis software (Bentley AutoPIPE, CAESAR II).
- Knowledge of pressure vessel and piping design codes (e.g., ASME B31.3) and design & integrity assessment codes.
- Experience in Fitness for Service (FFS) evaluations (desirable).
- Ability to write technical reports and deliver high-quality assessments.
- Familiarity with piping isometrics, 3D modelling, 2D engineering drawings (desirable).
- Understanding of NDT techniques, PSSR, and PED regulations (advantageous).
- Strong project management, commercial awareness, and client-facing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Word & Excel and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Working towards IMechE Chartership (highly desirable).
- Candidates must have full rights to work in the UK & be able to commute and work from the site.
