Jackson Hogg Procurement division are recruiting for a leading manufacturing business in Melksham, on the appointment of an Electronics Buyer to join their organisation. This is a full time and permanent role with salary negotiable depending on experience.
This role will be based on site 5 days per week.
Reporting into the MD, the Electronics Buyer will have full ownership and responsibility for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the availability of materials required for production.
Objectives include optimising procurement processes, ensuring supplier compliance with quality standards, managing inventory levels, and supporting the overall supply chain strategy.
The Role
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies for electronic components and system assembly parts to meet production needs and company goals.
- Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure the best quality, price, and delivery terms.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of components and assembly parts while minimising excess stock and obsolescence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality, to forecast demand and address any supply chain issues.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company quality requirements by conducting regular supplier audits and assessments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, suppliers, and inventory levels in the company’s ERP system.
- Analyse market trends and conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities in the supply chain.
- Resolve any issues related to supplier performance, including delays, quality concerns, and pricing discrepancies.
- Report on key procurement metrics to upper management and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement and supply chain processes.
The Person/Specification
- Proven experience in a procurement role, utilising strong procurement management skills, within the electronics manufacturing industry essential.
- In-depth knowledge of electronic components, system assembly parts, and their supply chain required.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills required.
- Strong supplier and inventory management skills required.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities required.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software required.
- Effective communication and people skills required.
- Experience in manufacturing PCBA and sub-assembly preferred.
- ERP Knowledge & experience desirable.
