About the Role
As the Payroll & Pensions Manager, you will lead and manage the payroll team, setting clear objectives, KPIs, and SLAs to ensure top-tier performance. You’ll oversee critical projects and system upgrades, fostering cross-departmental collaboration to enhance customer experience and streamline operations. Your role will include maintaining compliance with HMRC and pension regulations while continuously improving processes to meet organisational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the payroll team through professional development initiatives.
- Deliver efficient, compliant payroll and pensions services.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including HMRC, pension schemes, auditors, and more.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and pensions, including auto-enrolment compliance.
- Spearhead system upgrades and service delivery improvements.
- Provide expert guidance on external tax and pension changes.
- Maintain compliance with all statutory requirements.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Significant management experience in payroll/pensions environments.
- Proven track record of leading teams to improve processes and service delivery.
- Experience working with pension schemes.
- Advanced IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of HMRC and pension regulations.
Qualifications:
- CIPP Payroll Technician Certificate or equivalent.
- Evidence of consistent and recent CPD activity.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities.
- Commitment to deadlines and ability to work on your initiative.
