Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be exclusively partnered with a leading brand in North Tyneside on the appointment of a Procurement Assistant to join their team on a part time basis of 20 hours per week, and on a 12 month fixed term contract.
This role can offer £25,000 per annum FTE and comes with some excellent benefits including: 25 days holiday + BH (pro rata), private healthcare, competitive pension scheme, employee discount platform, staff discount and wellbeing initiatives.
Reporting to the Indirect Procurement Manager, you’ll be confident in sharing your own ideas of how to improve and develop the function. It’s a small team of two, but part of a wider team incorporating both the legal and compliance functions.
The Role:
- Play a key supporting role in the indirect procurement function.
- Ensure compliance with the indirect procurement policy.
- Lead on smaller scale indirect procurement projects across all internal functions from marketing to IT to warehousing and more.
- Negotiate pricing and payment terms with new suppliers.
- Own and manage the new supplier set up procedure.
- Actively research new areas of spend you are not familiar with to ensure you can be a single source of reason when internal stakeholders have competing priorities.
- Proactively look for cost savings and efficiencies in the supply chain and ways of working.
- Actively contribute to achieving departmental goals and objectives.
- Manage the operational purchasing inbox daily.
- Conduct market research to identify procurement opportunities.
- Manage and mitigate indirect procurement risks.
- Maintain the approved supplier list.
The Person/Specification:
- Ability and confidence to push back on spend with internal stakeholders and ensure internal processes are followed correctly.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and comfortable working with colleagues at all levels of the business.
- Personable and solid teamworking skills to collaborate closely across the business.
- Strong data analytical skills and logical reasoning ability leading to sound decision making.
- Ability to problem solve including creating innovative solutions to internal and external issues.
- Self-sufficient and organised to prioritise and manage time effectively to achieve results.
- Procurement experience would be a positive but is not essential. If you are self-motivated, learn quickly and can demonstrate the other skills above you’ll be a great fit.
This role requires a November 2024 start date, so early application is highly recommended as this is an urgent role.
